CATHOLIC WINS FIRST EVER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

Redemption! After a loss in last years title game and three straight Final Four appearances, Catholic High School finally won their first ever LHSLL title Sunday evening taking down last year's champions Jesuit 8-2.

Led by Head Coach Geroge Hopkins, the Bears were a force to be reckoned with from the onset of the season winning their first game 19-0 and suffering a single League defeat to a tough Byrd team in overtime.

By the end of the regular season, Catholic was battle tested and ready for the playoffs. They entered as the #1 seed on the backs of a dominant defense giving up just 4 goals a game on average in League play. That defense kicked it up a notch giving up less than 3 goals per game in the postseason.

In the title game, they were anchored by Offensive MVP Grant Schliewe and Defensive MVP Tommy Blanchard.

Catholic proved that goliath can be slayed and are a blueprint for all other teams as they grow. Congrats Coach Hopkins and the rest of the Catholic Bears! Enjoy your title and come ready to defend in 2023.
