Championship Game Preview

For the third year in a row, Catholic High and Jesuit will meet in the LHSLL Championship game.  Both squads have been the pillar of excellence in recent memory, and the matchup later today should be one for the ages.

How they got here.  Catholic ran the table in the regular season, finishing undefeated in League play.  Thier biggest test was early in the year where they escaped with a 5-4 win against, you guessed it, Jesuit.  For Jesuit's season, the have two losses by a combined 2 goals.  A tough out, no doubt

How Catholic wins:  Their ride continues to overwhelm opponents.  The organization Catholic has when opponents clear is stifling.  After any score, FOGO Delahouysse is an advantage and allows the Bears additional possessions.  They have shown time and time again they can grind out victories, and when necessary, score in bunches.  Schlegel and Auxt are dynamic on offense, and on the other end Hudson Brown anchors a tough defense.  Catholic needs to follow the gameplan, and they can be victorious.

How Jesuit wins:  Defense stands tall, and offense shine.  All State selections Lago and Piacun anchor a stout defense that can frustrate any opponent.  Offensively, the Blue Jays move incredinly well as a unit and have a phenomenal midfielder in Sutherlin who can take over any moment.  But the young Jays will need more.  They have to efficiently and have must have some fortunate bounces.  If thye can beat the Catholic press, they have the talent to pull out an upset.

Should be a great one in Baton Rouge today.  If you can't make it out, catch out all the action live on VSN.
