Newman Freshman wins Week 8 Outstanding Athlete

With Senior Captain Kitt Bachmann sidelined by injury, a Freshman stepped up in big way to aid Newman to three victories last week as they closed out the regular season. That young stud is Max Kukuy

His stats:
vs. Brother Martin: 5 goals (4 in the 4th quarter), 5 ground balls
vs. C.E. Byrd: 5 goals, 4 ground balls
vs. Captain Shreve: 1 goal, 1 assist, 7 ground balls

From Head Coach Aaron Burns: "Against Brother Martin, Kukuy poured in 5 goals with 4 in a dominant 4th quarter that opened up what had been a tight game. Saturday, against a tough C.E. Byrd team coming off a big victory, Kukuy led the team by putting in another 5 goals in a huge win. To finish out the weekend, Kukuy was limited due to an illness but still found the net once and added an assist to his total in limited action. Though Newman had a balanced attack all week, Kukuy continually finished the plays for a Greenies team that needed to pick up these wins moving into the playoffs.

In addition to his scoring, Kukuy has been a ground ball machine on the offensive side of the ball picking up a total of 16 ground balls in three games and being an integral contributor on the clear and the ride"

For his performance, Max will receive a custom LHSLL Outstanding Athlete furnished by the League through our partnership with Primo Lacrosse.
